New Vogues...

 I decided to take a peek at the New Vogues.  They seem to be doing better with the offering this season.  Here are the patterns that interest me:

This is Vogue 2150..  This is a nice looking sheath dress.  I think it is very work appropriate in View A with a jacket of some sort.  I think the longer length of View B is a little more casual.  To get this fit right on this one, you want to use sitting measures so there won't be gaping.

This is Vogue 2143.  It is a re-issue of  1978 Diane von Furstenburg design.  This one could be very nice if you can find a good knit fabric.  

Those were my favorites.  I do not have anywhere to dress up for anymore.  So, I probably will not purchase either pattern but I can dream, right?  I do miss dressing up to go to work.  

What are you thoughts of the 80s style with the wide, extended shoulder with the big shoulder pads?

A Look Back At 2024 Sewing...

 Folks, I did not do a lot of sewing in 2024.   The sewjo took a little bit of a vacation.  So many things happened.  My cat passed suddenly.  I went to Ireland for three weeks and want to go back.  I got two new kittens and that makes sewing an adventure.

Most sewn pattern:

1.  Liesl & Co Classic Shirt pattern.  This is such a great shirt pattern.  I have so many plans for changes.  The designer has a lot of information on the blog regarding this pattern as well.

Most loved patterns:

1.  Liesl & Co Classic Shirt pattern.  I do not think I can say much more about this pattern.  It is just a classic that you can make over and over.

2.  Itch to Stitch Taroko Skirt pattern.  This one is a repeat from last year.  It is such a nice little skirt pattern.

Most dislike project:

1. Itch to Stitch Dana Point Top pattern.  Do not get me wrong about this top.  It is a great hot weather top.  It is a little outside my comfort zone in styling and I just could not get the top to fit me.  After two muslins, I gave up.  

2024 Sewing Reflection:

My sewing for 2024 was pretty limited.  I did manage to complete two slipcovers and that was a big win.  I did manage to make some shirts which are also a big win.  I did not get as much completed as I wanted but life happens and you have to go with the flow.

A Look Back At 2023 Sewing...

 As I look back at my sewing for 2023, I found that I did not do much sewing.  My sewjo really took at vacation.  It did slow down my purchasing both fabric and patterns. Here is what I found:

Most sewn patterns:

1.  Fabrics-store dot com Phoebe Tank.  This is easily the most sewn pattern I have ever owned and it was free.  

2.  Love Notions Allegro Bottoms.  This is a great elastic waist pant pattern with pockets.

3.  Liesl & Co Classic Shirt pattern.  This is a great basic.  Designer has tons of information on the website about this pattern.  Definitely will change over to short sleeves for spring.

Most loved patterns:

1.  Merchant & Mills The Camber Set.  I have made this dress multiple times.  Quick and easy.  The dress that I made this year with it was a linen blend.  The linen was definite perfect for the pattern.

2.  Itch to Stitch Taroko Skirt.  This is another great basic.  This is not as quick and easy as item 1 but still a good one. 

Most disliked item that I made:

1.  Blue-gray Phoebe tank.  Not sure why I did not love this top.  I thought for sure that I would love this but the fabric was a little different with this one and I just did not find myself reaching for it very often. In fact, everything else had to be dirty for me to even considerate it.  

2023 Sewing Reflection:

I realized that I did not do as much non-apparel sewing as I had intended in 2023.  As much as I love sewing apparel, other things are more creative. Maybe that was what caused the sewjo vacation.  I also realize that I did not come close to accomplishing my list of goals that I made for 2023.   All I can do is keep trying.

Memory Lane...

 I  have been slowing working on my sewing room and cleaning it up again.  I have a little chest of drawers that I have supplies in but it has gotten where I can not locate stuff in it.  The mess in the chest is just a symptom of the whole room in generally.  So, it is clean up time starting with that little chest.  Each drawer will be dedicated to particular items.  In going through the drawers, I have found the following items which most likely were done in the mid-to-late 80's:

Unfinished projects.  I believe that the cross stitch is finished but they are unframed.  Money was very tight during that time period so I am guessing that is the reason that they had not been framed.  I will check to see about framing now.  I still like the pictures.

Off to do more cleaning.  I will like to get as much tucked away as possible as it is getting harder and harder to work in my sewing area.

A Look Back...The 2021 Sewing Winners

 2021 was not much better than 2020.  Health struggles continued.  Life can be difficult sometimes but we just have to keep rolling through.

I sewed a lot of muslins this year.  Most likely more than I ever have before.  I do think this helps with having complete sewing failures.  It does not stop a pattern / fabric mismatch.  Here are my favorite items created last year:

This is Loes Hinse Cowl Top pattern without the cowl. Love this top.  It was the first thing that I made in 2021.

In the picture in the Love Notions Allegro Pants and the Silhouette Patterns Valentino's Unlined Jacket.  The pants were in constant rotation throughout summer and early fall.  I look forward to pulling them out again.  I really loved the linen jacket but it was completed too late in the year to get much wear but spring is coming.

This was the Kwik Sew Crafty Carrier.  This bag has been used a lot.  It is the perfect size to haul fabric, patterns, cut out items, etc. to and from my parents house.  It has been used almost daily since it was made.  It really was made with the little featherweight in the background.

This is a basic Kwik Sew pajama pattern.  I have worn these pjs a lot.  Specifically, the ones pictured.  For some reason the blue set is more comfortable than the pink set.

There are a few things that I have made and not really had a chance to wear yet.  There is plenty of time in 2022.
