Inspiration...Shorts

 I rarely post shorts but the length of these shorts would be perfect for me, the little old lady:

This is The Boardwalk Short by Ann Taylor. Price tag: $69.50.  Details:  hits just above the knees, zip front with double hook & bar closure, belt loops, front off seam pockets, back welt pockets, side slits.

Yep, this is pretty much the perfect shorts.  Now, for a pattern or two:

This is Simplicity 9647.  You get trousers and shorts.  The shorts look pretty good.  They has a slash pocket instead of the side seam pocket.

This is Vogue 9008.  This pattern offers two styles in three lengths.  I think View C is the closest match.  I would copy the side seam pockets and the waistband from View D, E, or F (probably the same pattern piece for all three).

Weekly Timeless Wardrobe, Week 51

Week 51 is a light neutral shorts or capris.  As usually, if shorts or capris aren't part of your wardrobe then make it pants or a skirt.  Don't forget to consider the second layer from Week 50.  This will help with the coordination of your wardrobe.  Here's some items to consider:

Weekly Timeless Wardrobe - Week 44

Weeks 44 of the Weekly Timeless Wardrobe have arrived.  You can find Week 44 here.  The introduction chart is always a good place to start if you are just now bumping into this series.  Note: as the series progresses, the chart changes a wee bit.  It should be shown on the weekly posting at the bottom. 

Week 44 is dark, neutral shorts.  Perfect summer attire.  That doesn't mean that this has to be shorts.  What it does mean is a dark neutral bottom.  This can be shorts are all lengths, pants, or a skirt.  I would lean toward a skirt or capris.  I am no longer comforter in shorts that show my knees.  Here's my take on the patterns for this.  This month's seamwork patterns are perfect for this.

This is the line drawings for the Seamwork Dorian Shorts pattern.  They are high waisted with a partial elastic band and they have pockets.  For the month of June, these are member only patterns.
