Inspiration - Scarves...

I am seeing scarves showing up this spring.  Here are a few that I found interesting:

This is Fringed Sketchbook-Print Square Scarf by Lafayette 148  New York.  Price tag: $398.00.  The scarf is 55-inches square.

This is Charcoal Dust Square Silk Twill Square by Lafayette 148 New York. Price tag: $298.00.  This square is 35-inches square.

This is the Watercolor Poppies Square Scarf by Burberry.  Price tag: $520.00.  This is approximately 35-inch sqaure scarf.

This is Tie-Dye Silk Scarf by Eileen Fisher.  Price tag: $118.00.  No size is given on the oblong scarf but from seeing on the model, it is at least 54-inches long.

This is Striped Linen Blend Scarf by Brunello Cucinelli.  Price tag: $1450.00.  This scarf also does not give a size.  I would have to guess that it is at least 54" maybe longer with the fringe.

Marcy Tilton has some great abstract prints that could possibly be used for a square scarf.  All you need to decide on the size and hem detail.  Mood Fabrics would also be a great place to look for fabrics to make a scarf.

Scarves are so easy to make.  Just decide to size/shape/finish and there you go.

Fleece Gloves...

This week's scrap busting is aimed at those fleece scraps.  If you like sewing fleece, I have no do that there are scraps available. You will need between 1/4 yard and 1/2 yard total of fabric. Gloves are a little more challenging to make than some of the other scrap busting projects but very rewarding.

The link to the tutorial is here.  Hope you are inspired to use up those left bits and pieces of fleece.

Twisted Turban Knit Headband...

Today's scrapbuster project is a Twisted Turban Knit Headband.  This would be require scrap pieces of a lightweight knit.  What type of scrap?  Narrow and long.   The tutorial for this headband is here.

Hope you are inspired to use up those bits and pieces that you just can not bring yourself to toss.

Knit Headband...

Today's scrapbuster project is a knit headband.  If you have long pieces of leftover knit that is at least 4" wide, this project is for you.

This headband is knotted on top.  So if you want a different type of knot, you might need more length.  The tutorial for the knit headband is here.

Hope you are inspired to use up those bits and pieces you can not toss.

Neckerchief Scarf...

Here is another scrapbusting project.  It is similar to the last scarf stash buster but a little different size.  This project is for smaller scraps pieces.  Think fat quarter size.  This is a tutorial for a neckerchief scarf.  This scarf also requires a light weight, drapey fabric.  Here is the link to the neckerchief scarf - here.

Neck Scarf...

Let's do some scrap busting.  I know when I purchase fabric online I almost always purchase more fabric than needed.  Why?  Because the fabric is usually cut in 1 yard increments.  Sad but true.  So if you have a large piece of left over fabric like 30-inches by 30-inches, you can make a neck scarf.  This will need to be something lightweight and drapey.

Here is the link for the tutorial on making a square neck scarf - here.

Now, remember not all scarfs are square.  Some are oblong.  Watch for additional tutorials in the future.

When I saw this tote, I knew I had to share it. It's big. It's expensive.  This is why we create.

This is the Bottega Venta Large Leather Trimmed Linen Tote.  Price tag: $2495.00.  Details:  Linen with leather trim, rolled top handles, open top, 20.5" H x 15" W x 8.3" D.  This is a big bag.  Perfect for travel.

Here's some options:

This is Laura's Tote by The Creative Thimble.  You can find it here.   The large size is very close to this pattern.  You would need to modify the top portion a little bit to get it to match the inspiration photo.

Here's a slightly different bag with a closed top:

This is the Summer Tote by Lazy Girl Designs.  You can find it here.  This bag is a smaller bag but it isn't hard to make it larger.
