Inspiration...Wide Legged Pants

I am so happy that wide legged pants are making an appearance.  Here is a great plaid pair:

This is the Westbourne Wide-Legged Pants from Boden.  Price tag: $140.00.  Details:  fit through waist and hip with wide leg, full length, side pockets, back jetted pockets, button fastening at center front with zip fly.    (Jetted pockets appear to welted pockets.)

This is a great overall outfit.  My first thought of a pant pattern is:

This is the Liesl & Co Peckham Women's Trousers pdf or pattern pattern.  These pants have just a little bit of elastic at the sides which is different than the inspiration photo.  Here is another option:

This is the Liesl & Co Hollywood Trousers pdf pattern. This is a classic trouser pattern.  This pattern does not have the welt pocket and you would need to add it.

While we are at it, we might as well make a complete outfit.  Here is the top pattern:

This is the Liesl & Co Classic Shirt pdf or paper pattern.  This is my favorite shirt pattern.

If you want to take it a step further, you might add a jacket for a suit like effect:

This is the Closet Core Jasika Jacket pattern.  It is a classic blazer pattern that would look good with anything you want to pair with it - jeans, trousers, skirts.

If you go to the Boden website, you will find lots of inspiration for either the pants or shirt.  Did you know Boden states on their website "Buy better, buy less, wear more." .  That is a good idea for those buying or sewing.  Just something to consider.

Hope you are inspired to create something beautiful.

Inspiration...Jacket with Hood

A light weight jacket is a necessity for spring.  Here is a great jacket:

This is the Ansel Jacket with Removal Hood by Lafayette 148 New York.  Price tag: $698.00.  Details:  Approximately 29" from shoulder to hem, stand collar, concealed two-way zip/snap placket, long sleeves, back yoke pleat, front waist cutline, relaxed silhouette, hand wash.

Here's the perfect pattern:

The is the Closet Core Kelly Jacket pattern.  It is very close to the inspiration photo.  I do not know if the hood snaps on and off but I bet you can figure it out.  If you want a lining for the jacket, here is the link to the add-on pattern.

Hope you are inspired to create something beautiful.

Inspiration...White Shirt and Jeans

Let's complete the outfit from last Monday.  Here is another look at the picture:

This is Lafayette 148.  I have no idea if the jeans and shirt are from the same label but I would suspect that they are.  Here is a couple of ideas for the shirt:

This is the Grainline Studio Archer Button Up pattern.  View A is a classic shirt pattern.

This is the Liesl & Co Classic Shirt pattern.  As the name implies, this is a classic button-up shirt pattern but with a little twist.  It has cup sizing which for some can be a wonderful addition to a pattern.

Here is a couple of jean options:

This is the Ginger Skinny Jeans pattern by Closet Core.  If you prefer a slim fitting jean, this one is highly rated by most people in the sewing world.

This is the Merchant & Mills Heroine Straight Leg jean pattern.  It has a looser fit than the skinny above. I am all about options here.

All of these patterns are hiding out in my pattern stash.  They are fairly basic patterns that can be used over and over.  I think I really need to get working on fitting a pair of jeans.  I have a very hard time finding jeans that fit. Remember once those patterns have been fitted, you can change the style lines to whatever you desire.

I am an affliliate for the company that has been linked these patterns above. I would get a small commission if you choose to purchase.

Hope you are inspired to create some fabulous basics for yourself.
